Puttanesca is a quick and simple sauce that gets bold flavor from capers, olives and anchovies and our San Marzano Style Chopped Tomatoes in Puree with sea salt. Our San Marzano style tomatoes are plump and juicy with a soft and meaty texture that melds into your recipes. The bright tomato flavor shines in this classic sauce.
Ingredients
Copy Ingredients
4 tablespoons olive oil
5 anchovy fillets, or 2 1/2 teaspoons anchovy paste
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 (28 ounce) can
Tuttorosso® San Marzano Style Chopped Tomatoes with Sea Salt
1/2 cup Kalamata olives
2 tablespoons capers
3 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the anchovies and cook until the anchovies dissolve into the oil, you will need to keep moving them in the oil to get them to break apart. Add the garlic and cook until lightly brown, about 1 minute; be careful to not burn the garlic. To the pan, add the red pepper flakes and cook about 20-30 seconds, then add the chopped tomatoes, olives, capers, and parsley.
Turn heat down to low and simmer for 15 minutes. The sauce will thicken as it simmers.
Taste and season as needed with salt and pepper. Serve with your favorite pasta - ours is Bucatini!
