Ingredients

Copy Ingredients
6 tablespoons butter, divided
7 cloves garlic cloves, minced and divided
1/2 cup 4C Panko Bread Crumbs, plain variety
3/4 cup 4C Homestyle Grated Parmesan Cheese, divided
kosher salt, to taste
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup sweet onion, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/4 cup dry white wine, optional
1 (28 ounce) can Tuttorosso® San Marzano Style Hand Crushed Tomatoes in Puree with Basil & Sea Salt
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1 pound penne pasta, or other large tubular pasta

Instructions

 Garlic Bread Crumbs
  • In a medium skillet on medium-low heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add 3 cloves minced garlic and the 4C Plain Panko Bread Crumbs.  Stir frequently until bread crumbs are fragrant and golden brown. Remove to a bowl and add 1/4 cup of 4C Homestyle Grated Parmesan Cheese. Toss well to combine, add salt to taste. Wipe skillet with paper towel and set aside.
Pasta and Tomato Butter Sauce
  • Boil a large pot of salted water for pasta.
  • While water is heating, over medium heat in the same skillet used for the bread crumbs, add 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.  Add the finely chopped onion and 4 cloves of minced garlic. Cook, stirring frequently until mixture is fragrant and translucent, 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the crushed red pepper flakes. Add the white wine, if using, and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add the Tuttorosso® San Marzano Style Hand Crushed Tomatoes in Puree with basil and sea salt, 4 tablespoons of butter, sugar and salt to taste. Bring to a simmer.
  • Reduce heat to low and cook for about 20 minutes or until flavors blend and sauce is slightly reduced, stirring occasionally.
  • While sauce is simmering, cook pasta to al dente according to package directions. Drain well and transfer to a large bowl.  Taste and season with salt & pepper to taste.
  • Add sauce to pasta a little at a time until pasta is generously coasted. Stir in 1/4 cup of 4C Homestyle Grated Parmesan Cheese. Place pasta on plates, sprinkle on a bit more parmesan cheese and top with prepared bread crumbs.
