Bistecca is Tuscan steak, known in America as the T-bone steak. This steak is pan seared in a hot skillet for a brown crust, then basted with our simple Marinara Sauce for a steak that will melt in your mouth.
Note:  The steak can also be seared on the grill for extra flavor!

Ingredients

Copy Ingredients
2 T-Bone Steaks, cut 2/3-3/4 inch thick, well marbled Prime if available
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups Marinara Sauce, use the link in the description above to get our recipe
2 tablespoons butter
dried oregano
flaky sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat two large (12" or larger) cast iron skillets (or heavy bottom frying pans). If you don't have 2 pans, you can do this 1 steak at a time.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the pan or each skillet. Sear the steak on the first side for 4 minutes without moving - the key is do not move the steak to get that crust!
  • Flip the steak and sear on the other side for 30 seconds. If it won't move, it isn't ready to flip. Pour 1 cup of Marinara into the pan along with 1 tablespoon of butter and baste the steak with the warm red sauce.
  • Remove the steaks to a serving platter and sprinkle with oregano and the crunchy salt. Mangia!
Note:  The steak can also be seared on the grill for extra flavor!
