This creamy, high-protein pasta sauce has been a staple in our household for a few months. It tastes like a creamy blush sauce, but it is also packed with protein. This creamy pasta sauce has roughly 16 grams of protein per serving and 33 grams of protein if you include the chicken sausage. It is so tasty, and I know you will enjoy it! @spinachandbacon @thefeedfeed
Ingredients
Copy Ingredients
8 oz cavatappi pasta
12 ounces Italian chicken sausage, optional
1 (15 ounce) can
Tuttorosso® Crushed Tomatoes with basil
16 ounces cottage cheese, fat-free
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
basil, fresh, for garnish
Instructions
Boil the pasta according to package instructions.
If using chicken sausage, brown it in a large pan over medium heat. Once cooked through, remove from heat and set aside.
In a high-speed blender, combine Tuttorosso Crushed Tomatoes with Basil, cottage cheese, grated Parmesan, oregano, garlic powder, salt and black pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy, resulting in a pink sauce.
Drain the cooked pasta and return it to the pan over low heat. Pour the prepared sauce over the pasta in the pan. Add shredded mozzarella cheese and cooked chicken sausage (if using). Stir gently to combine until the cheese is melted and the sauce is heated through.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
Note: Adjust the consistency of the sauce by adding more or less cottage cheese and adjusting seasoning according to taste preference.
